Stephi Hemelryk Donald

Stephanie Hemelryk Donald (Stephi) currently holds the position of Distinguished Professor of Film in the College of Arts at the University of Lincoln. 

Stephi joined the University of Lincoln from UNSW in 2018, where she was a Future Fellow and Professor of Comparative Film and Cultural Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Her research focuses on refugee film-making, children and migration, and immersive methodologies. 

Following a first degree in Chinese at the University of Oxford (1979-83), a masters in European Politics and Culture at Southampton (1991-1992) and a DPhil in Chinese film at the University of Sussex (1997), Stephi developed a successful academic career. Her previous positions have included: Professor of Chinese Media Studies at the University of Sydney; Foundation Dean of Media and Communication at RMIT, Melbourne; Leverhulme Trust Visiting Professor at the Centre for World Cinemas at the University of Leeds; and Head of the School of Arts at the University of Liverpool.
