People with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities have a right to be included in society under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Yet, they remain one of the most hidden and excluded populations. This has become especially obvious during the COVID-19 crisis.

This webinar is a virtual book launch of a book Belonging for People with Profound Intellectual and Multiple Disabilities; Pushing the Boundaries of Inclusion about what belonging means for this group of people. The book showcases important developments in belonging - in education, in research and in communities. Contributing authors in this edited book will share the key messages from their chapters, as well as what they learned from being involved in the exciting journey of developing this much needed book.

There will be a discussion about how belonging can be enhanced for people with profound disabilities and about what it means to belong.

Presented by the UNSW Disability Innovation Institute and the Centre for Research in Inclusion, University of Southampton.

Speakers in this session will include:
Professor Jackie Leach Scully, Director Disability Innovation Institute, UNSW
